Kata:

1. Select any kata except Heian Shodan through Heian Godan and Tekki Shodan
2. Examinee explains and answers examiner's questions regarding areas of technique in kata.

Research: Examinee presents a written report in advance on his research conducted in general areas of karate techniques and their application. The examinee gives an approximate 10-minute explanation of his research, followed by an approximate 15-minute demonstration of this research. The examiner then questions the examinee concerning this research.
